The trucenter is always engaged (providing steering resistance) What changes is the center point of the steering stabilizer. There is a momentary switch which is designed to change the center point of the stabilizer. So if you have a strong wind blowing the rv to the left and you are have to steer hard to the right to combat the force you hit the switch for just a moment and it now centers the stabilizer at the new position of the steering wheel. Now you now longer have to tug at the wheel to the right since the trucenter is apply force at the new set point. You can change this as often as needed.
I found that I moved the center point more on roads that at a bad crown in it or off camber than for wind, since wind cab very direction. Although the feature came in handy during a trip across New Mexico with high winds. It is a nice feature to have.
