This Contoure RV-500-OTR uses 1500 Watts as apposed to the Sharp model you mentioned, which uses 1600 Watts making it a stronger microwave. However, these microwaves are designed to run on RV power, which is limited in most cases to 30 amp or 50 amp. If you think about it, the a/c runs at about 20 amp then you have your lights and your 10+ amp microwave and now you can't turn your tv on because it can not handle all of that power if you only have a 30 amp RV. Even if you had a 50 amp, most of those have 2 A/C units leaving you in the same boat. So if you want to go with a higher amperage, you can, but you won't be able to utilize much else on your RV power.
