Answer Question
Why are no portable devices UL listed? What impact does that have on myinsurance (If something electrical happens)
Typically one looks for a UL, Intertek or CSA listing for some level of assurance that the device will not FRY you or a guest or your RV if something fails within the device. The portable surge protectors with low/high voltage clamping do not carry any of these listings. How come? What would the impact be if I am using one of these devices and something electrical happens? Meaning - most insurance policies - and many state / provincial jurisdiction laws / codes require that I be using "listed" devices for all things electrical. Insurance companies have a great knack for getting out of claims for ANY infraction they can find. I would feel a lot safer with a listed device - which I know I can get if I get a hardwired device - but I would like the convenience of a portable device.
